Sara dozes off listening to these stories and this is when the adventures really begin for Sara. At one point, they build an igloo together and he continues his wondrous tales huddled under blankets in their warm igloo. As Sara longs to be with her family, her grandfather tries to distract her with his wonderful adventures growing up in the arctic wilderness. It is just before Christmas and normally Sara and her entire family stay with her grandfather but this year is a little different–Sara’s mother is expecting a new baby any day now. The story begins with Sara who is staying with her grandfather in the Canadian Arctic. ![]() What did you like about the book? This is a cute story that uses a very vivid dream to transport a young girl into a magical arctic world. Again, it wasn't all terrible, but it was a gigantic relief to be finished. ![]() That said, after finishing REAMDE, I put the novel down and breathed the hugest sigh of relief I've let loose since finishing Gravity's Rainbow. While this is the first Stephenson novel I've read - I'd been meaning to read him for awhile because his fans are always raving about his novels, particularly Snow Crash and Cryptonomicon - and while I didn't care for REAMDE, it wasn't enough to put me off him forever. I'd suggest taking a breath, climbing the stairs of your parents' basement, going outside, and doing your light saber exercises.
